At Sopht, we’ve always believed that we cannot change what we don’t measure and even less improve what we don’t acknowledge.

That’s why, for the second year in a row, we are sharing the results of our 2024 carbon footprint with full transparency.

Why keep measuring?

Measuring your carbon footprint once is a good start.

Measuring it every year ensures that a company’s growth doesn’t come at the planet’s expense.

For us, this is not just a formality, it’s a powerful management tool. It helps us understand where our emissions are concentrated, identify ways to reduce them, stay aligned with our mission, and also allow our clients to see the impact they have when using our solution.

2024 results at a glance

Our total carbon footprint reached 99 tons of CO₂eq, an increase of 61% compared to 2023.

This growth is understandable given our rapid expansion: +33% in staff and +121% in revenue.

But beyond this overall increase, several indicators show that we are growing more responsibly:

  • –6% emissions per employee, or 1 ton of CO₂eq less per person
  • –68% emissions from employee digital activities (emails, storage, video conferences, etc.)
  • Digital services purchases now account for 49% of our total footprint, about 48.5 tons of CO₂eq, up 56%, a clear signal we are focusing on for further action.

What these numbers teach us

Growing while reducing carbon intensity is a challenge, but it’s precisely what makes this exercise meaningful.

These results remind us of two essential points:

  1. Digital activity is never immaterial. Behind every online service, there’s a real footprint.
  2. Environmental performance comes down to efficiency. Doing more with less, that’s the goal we strive for.

What’s next?

This second carbon footprint is not an end, but a step forward.

We are already taking concrete actions: reducing the footprint of our digital services, integrating low-carbon criteria in our purchases, and strengthening our teams’ training on sustainable practices.

At Sopht, we make sure to practice what we preach when it comes to sustainable tech.

Our goal is to apply the principles we advocate to ourselves, and continue to show that another path is possible, one where technology is measured, transparent, and truly sustainable.
